9” X 12” ACRYLIC on CANVAS – October 2004
When I was a child I remember seeing a propaganda message broadcast over and over on TV. This was either just before, or just after the “Cuban missile crises” where J.F. Kennedy found nuclear warheads on Cuban soil and threatened to use “THE BOMB” on Cuba if they didn’t get those nukes off the fucking island. Everybody thought we were going to finally start WW III with the Russians and blow ourselves up. I found my mother weeping in her hands. Sobbing that we were all going to die in a nuclear holocaust. Meanwhile, the government was running these commercials on TV showing Nikita Kruschev at the UN with his shoe off, slamming it on the podium as he screamed at the Americans, “WE WILL BURY YOU!!!” … Actually, I have no idea what this painting is about … but it looked like war stuff after it was done and that’s what it made me think about. Please make up your own interpretation.
